Overview

Location: National / Remote working. Office space may be acquired in future. Post-holder must be willing to travel for engagements and events if necessary.

Contract: Fixed-term (2 year, with the possibility of extension)

Working pattern: 2 days per week (Tues, Weds or Thurs)

  • 23 days annual leave, plus statutory holiday (pro rata)

About the Role

Sustainability and Environmental Education (SEEd) is a charity that works with young people and individuals of all ages to make true and lasting change for sustainability through continued learning. Our aim is to create changemakers to ensure sustainability is at the heart of everything, both now and in the future.

SEEd is about to commence an exciting transitional period where it is consolidating and scaling up its work. Our goal is to reach more people than ever before and support them to make greater change over the next two years.

The person in this role will be leading on recruiting schools and other organisations for our Young Changemakers (YCM) programme. You will build relationships with schools and partners, and roll out YCM with teachers and others who take up the programme. You’ll follow up and track implementation and impact. Working with various stakeholders, you’ll organise information clearly and collaborate with our small team to demonstrate our impact to ensure the sustainability of SEEd.

Responsibilities

Note: We are a small, flexible and adaptable team, so these tasks may change as the work progresses.

  • Lead the Young Changemakers programme
  • Agree and manage the YCM budget alongside the Director of Operations and Development
  • Lead on recruiting schools and partners, and liaising with schools and partners on the roll-out of YCM each year
  • Establish partnerships with third party organisations through a local co-ordinator
  • Develop information resources for enquiries and the YCM programme as needed, in collaboration with the Programmes and Communications Coordinator
  • Oversee, and liaise and collaborate with the Programmes and Communications Coordinator for tasks specifically related to YCM
  • Ensure YCM and other relevant data and information is secure and up to date
  • Ensure data is collected and collated for evaluation and review purposes
  • Attend and support SEEd events, e.g. Festival of Education, YCM Celebration Day
  • Support the Changemakers course to help the team deliver this programme
  • Provide support to the Team and SEEd Board as requested

Person Specifications

  • Strong relationship-building skills with experience building networks, shaping partnerships, networks and coalitions
  • An understanding of the UK education system, particularly in a secondary school setting
  • Project management experience, with experience of leading or managing multiple projects
  • Excellent social and intercultural skills
  • A strong team worker with effective communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle a varied work schedule
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and fluent in English
  • Desirable: Knowledge of – or experience of working in the field of – sustainability education or environmental education
  • Desirable: Experience in promoting programmes or activities in schools or a similar setting

Interviews

Interviews will take place w/c 1st September, 2025, either in person, or via a video calling platform.

The interview process will assess your skills and experience and will focus on examples

of the competencies and behaviours required for this post. There may be a skills assessment involved at some stage of the process.

Offer of Employment

All offers of employment are made subject to contract, receipt of at least two suitable references and documentation confirming your eligibility to work in the UK. There will be a probationary period of 6 months. Start date (subject to notice periods) will ideally be as soon as possible, in September 2025.
