A government agency is seeking a motivated Security Technician to protect Defence and Government sites within the South West Region. The role includes installing and maintaining security systems, with opportunities to work from home and in the field. Key qualifications include a full driving license and relevant technical skills. We are looking for motivated and passionate professionals to join as a Security Technician in the SSG's South West Region, which has its headquarters based at Defence Academy Shrivenham, SN6 8LA. You will have the chance to work on a variety of technically sophisticated projects protecting UK Defence and Government sites.
You will be tasked from home and, for most of the time, you will be working in the field, travelling between various government and military sites. We will provide you with the choice of a non-liveried company vehicle to work in your region, and you can opt-in to use this for personal use.
We require professional individuals to serve SSG customers on a wide range of security systems, including Intruder Alarm (IAS), External & Perimeter Intruder Detection, Video Surveillance (VSS), Automatic Access Control (AACS), and Control Room IAS and VSS & AACS Standard Monitoring Systems. Specific system training will be provided.
Employment Hours: You will be contracted to work 37 hours a week, typically between 08:00-16:00. However, through travel time, overtime, and on-call duties, you will have the opportunity to increase your potential earnings.
Allowances: Where applicable, allowances are provided, including Travel Time, On-Call Allowance, Recall-to-duty Allowance, and Travel and Subsistence for out-of-region and overtime assignments.
Person Specification: Essential - Full UK Driving Licence (A maximum of six points). Desirable - Experience & Skills, Memberships (Engineering Council, Security Institute), and Licences (Full UK Driving Licence).

Technical Skills: We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process: SSG Functional Competence Area 1 - Electronic Security Installation Practitioner, HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent, NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Electronic Security Systems, and ONC/OND in Electronic Security Systems.
Nationality Requirements: This job is broadly open to UK nationals, nationals of the Republic of Ireland, nationals of Commonwealth countries who have the right to work in the UK, and nationals of the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein with settled or pre-settled status under the European Union Settlement Scheme.
