Job summary

Google Public Sector UK in London is seeking a Security Platform Engineer to deliver, operate and secure private cloud services for high-security requirements. The role emphasizes cloud-native security, platform automation, and collaboration with Incident Response and Security Architects.

You will participate in on-call rotations outside core hours to support security incidents and critical operations, ensuring secure deployment and operation of private cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• 5 years of security engineering or platform engineering experience.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD).
• Kubernetes security and container orchestration experience.
• Scripting in Python or Go for security tooling and PoCs.
• Active or ability to obtain UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure and manage cloud security platform tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, CWPP).
• Develop and implement security monitoring and logging strategies.
• Investigate and analyse security incidents and containment actions.
• Perform forensic analysis of suspicious activity.
• Automate security tasks and workflows to improve efficiency.
