Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services is seeking a Security Officer to join the Front of House Security Team at Springfields Fuels Ltd. Based on the Reception floor, you will greet visitors, conduct bag checks and support access control for the site in line with UK regulations.

Work is Monday–Friday, 07:00–16:00, reporting to the Security Management Team. A front-line SIA licence (or willingness to obtain one) is required to fulfil the role and maintain a professional security presence on site.

Qualifications

• Previous security experience is essential.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately.
• Strong communication skills with visitors and staff.
• Willingness to obtain/hold an SIA licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-class security service as part of the Front of House team.
• Support site access control and KPI/SLAs for the client.
• Assist in emergency procedures and evacuations.
• Ensure compliance with policies and UK law as directed by Security Manager.
• Maintain accurate incident notebooks and review procedures.

• Mitie has a great opportunity for a Security Officer to join their Front of House Security Team at Springfields Fuels Ltd. This is a permanent role where you wil report into the Security Management Team on the contract. The hours for the role will be Monday - Friday, 07:00hrs - 16:00hrs.

As a Security Officer in this role, you will be based on the Reception floor area, here you will be part of a team, working alongside and supporting our two Security Receptionists. Within this role you will be the first point of contact at Westinghouse for all visitors, customers and stakeholders attending the Springfields site. The role will involve the welcoming of all personnel to Springfields, conducting searches of personal baggage/luggage and assisting in maintaing overall control of people and activity in the Reception area. Ensuring compliance with the Office for Nuclear Regulation is a key element of this role.

Objectives

• To protect our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent changes.


• Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.

Main Duties

Operations

• To work as part of a team in delivering a first-class service within the contract.


• To support the Service Level Agreement, by ensuring that all site support activities are carried out effectively.


• To ensure all customer requests are dealt with efficiently and effectively.


• Support emergency evacuation procedures.


• To support the review of procedures and processes.


• To be aware of and ensure compliance with all aspects of policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Manager and in accordance with UK Law and Guidance bodies.


• Fully and satisfactorily complete all tasks relevant to your role and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI's).


• Proactively refer to and review the published Assignment Instructions, thus familiarising oneself with any changes in order to suggest additional amendments that will improve or enhance the current level of service.


• To be compliant with Industry and Statutory Legislation (you are required to hold or obtain a front-line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision), which must be worn at all times whilst carrying out your duties.


• Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.


• Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority.


• Work in a systematic, methodology and orderly way.

Training

• Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.


• To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Manager.


• Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.


• You are required to renew your SIA licence 16 weeks before expiry.

Security and Health & Safety

• Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards.


• Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.


• Use common sense and initiative if a situation appears to become threatening.


• To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.


• Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.


• Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
