Job description

Location: East London, Dartford, Harlow, and Brixton

This is a mobile role; a Full UK Driving Licence is required.

Working hours: Shift Pattern - 5 out of 7 days, including days, nights, and weekends; 60 hours per week.

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time

Relief officer required to work at various operational sites, assisting with access control, ID checks, site patrolling, and other gatehouse duties.

Essential qualifications: Driving licence and SIA DS or SG.

Role overview:

This role involves performing daily tasks to create a safe and secure environment for visitors and staff, while providing excellent customer service.

What you'll do:
  1. Demonstrate a high level of customer service, professional presentation, and confidentiality at all times.
  2. Manage access and egress to buildings, maintaining strong customer service skills.
  3. Be aware of protest and demonstration activities, responding or escalating as appropriate.
  4. Assist staff, guests, contractors, and public bodies with information, directions, or queries professionally.
  5. Follow all operating procedures diligently.
  6. Assist during major incidents as instructed.
  7. Display your SIA licence visibly while on duty.
  8. Maintain accurate records and logs; submit reports as required.
  9. Participate in staff welfare, development programs, and mandatory training.
  10. Use communication tools (radio/phones) confidently and clearly.
  11. Perform any other reasonable duties as required.
Person Specification:

Requirements include:

  • Clearance to BS7858.
  • SIA Licence – Security Guard (SG).
  • SIA Licence – Door Supervisor (DS) (if applicable).
  • SIA Licence – CCTV (if applicable).
  • First aid qualification.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with IT software (Word, Teams, Outlook).
  • Reliable, punctual, approachable, and well-presented.
  • Flexible approach to duties.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Comfortable working alone or as part of a team.
