Job summary

Ward Security Limited is hiring an experienced Security Officer in Birmingham to provide a secure, welcoming environment for clients, staff and visitors. You will be visible, professional and proactive, deterring incidents and responding swiftly when they occur.

You will patrol, control access, monitor CCTV and contribute to accurate reporting while upholding the highest standards of customer service and professionalism within a fast-paced corporate setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' checkable employment history in line with BS7858 vetting requirements.
• A valid Door Supervisor and CCTV SIA licence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong observation skills, with the ability to identify, respond to and accurately record incidents.
• Professional and presentable at all times, representing Ward Security positively.
• Reliable and punctual, with a strong commitment to attendance and shift requirements.
• Strong customer service skills and a genuine passion for helping others.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence with regular foot patrols across designated areas.
• Control access to the premises by checking identifications and authorisations.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems and respond to alerts.
• Welcome and assist visitors, providing directions and escorting as needed.
• Identify and report concerns including health and safety issues and security breaches.
• Carry out searches professionally and in line with procedures.
• Respond confidently to security incidents and escalate when required.
• Complete locking and unlocking duties per client requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and logs of visitor movements and incidents.
• Remain alert and conduct proactive surveillance with integrity.

We are recruiting a highly motivated and professional Security Officer to support operations at a prestigious, fast-paced corporate environment found in the heart Birmingham City Centre.

Location: Birmingham, B3 3AX

Nearest train: Birmingham New Street
Pay Rate: £15.00 per hour
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off days and nights– including weekends and Bank Holidays
Requirement: Valid Door Supervisor and CCTV SIA Licence

About the Role:

As a Security Officer, you’ll play an important role in creating a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our client, their employees and visitors. You’ll be visible, approachable and proactive, helping to prevent incidents while responding confidently when they arise.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Maintain a visible security presence by carrying out regular foot patrols across designated areas, helping to deter crime and protect the client’s people, property and assets.
• Control access to the premises, checking identification and documentation to ensure only authorised individuals are granted entry.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems where provided, responding promptly and appropriately to any alerts or concerns.
• Welcome and assist visitors, providing directions and escorting visitors to their destinations when required.
• Identify and report concerns, including health and safety issues, suspicious activity, security breaches or criminal activity, ensuring accurate and timely reports are completed.
• Carry out searches professionally and respectfully, in line with company and client procedures.
• Respond confidently to security incidents, taking appropriate action and escalating incidents to the relevant authority when required.
• Complete locking and unlocking duties, including securing doors and designated areas in accordance with client requirements.
• Be a professional first point of contact for employees, visitors and contractors, providing information and assistance in a helpful and approachable manner.
• Maintain accurate records and logs, including visitor movements, incidents, patrols and other information required by the client.
• Remain alert and observant, recognising suspicious behaviour, individuals or activity and reporting concerns promptly.
• Support a safe working environment, including obtaining and maintaining any required First Aid qualification in line with company and health and safety requirements.
• Work as part of a professional security team, supporting colleagues and maintaining high standards of customer service, professionalism and integrity at all times.

• Ability to provide a minimum of 5 years' checkable employment, education and/or unemployment history in line with BS7858 vetting requirements
