Security Officer

An opportunity has arisen to join the Estates, Facilities and Support Services Directorate as a security officer within the Security Department. The role provides a security service to both the Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospital sites within the Wirral University Teaching Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust.

Applicants will be required to provide a flexible, high quality service extending care and consideration to patients, staff and visitors as well as responding and managing challenging situations that will require prompt and appropriate action in a courteous and helpful manner

Main duties of the job

The post forms part of an in-house service providing security for the Trust. The primary role will be to maintain a visible and effective high profile presence to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff, as well as the protection of property across both hospital sites.

The post holder will also need to ensure that car parks on the hospital grounds are operational and used effectively and correctly by visitors and staff. The successful applicant will need to ensure all relevant incidents that involve aggression or violence; loss of equipment, damage to property etc. are reported immediately on the respective incident forms and forwarded for the attention of the Security Manager.

The post holder must hold a full current clean driving licence and have previous knowledge of conflict resolution within a healthcare environment. Full training in Physical Intervention within the clinical setting will be provided.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
  • Security experience within the healthcare environment
  • Previous Security experience
  • Willingness to undergo 'on the job' training and attend specialist courses, as necessary. This will include Control & Restraint/physical intervention training
  • Experience of working with the public in a customer facing role
  • Experience in Physical intervention / control and restraint
Knowledge and Skills
  • The ability to communicate easily and confidently with all levels of personnel, colleagues, patients, and visitors
  • Knowledge and understanding of patient confidentiality and the ability to deal with sensitive issues
  • Understand and operate the appropriate procedures for Security Services
  • To understand and apply techniques of conflict management
  • Understanding of basic Law & Legislation in relation to Security
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
