Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Security Officer to join a busy client site, protecting people, property and assets while delivering a professional, friendly service to staff and visitors.

You will rotate weeks between Jedburgh Sheriff Court and Selkirk Sheriff Court, with on-site patrols, monitoring security and building management systems, and enforcing access controls in line with Health & Safety policies.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Previous experience in a security role.
• Right to Work in the UK and ability to pass BS7858 vetting.
• Valid SIA Licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the safety and security of buildings, personnel, and visitors across the site.
• Act as a first point of contact, providing a professional, friendly and helpful service.
• Monitor fire, security and building management systems, responding appropriately to incidents.
• Support a safe working environment by following Health & Safety policies and reporting hazards, damage, or defects.
• Control access points, barriers, and support traffic management across the site.
• Carry out regular patrols and ensure security procedures are consistently followed.

About The Role

In this role, you will play a vital part in protecting people, property, and assets, while delivering a professional and approachable service to all employees and visitors.

You will be part of a team that takes pride in high standards, strong customer service, and proactive security management, ensuring the site operates safely and efficiently at all times.

Days of Working:

• WEEK 1 JEDBURGH SHERIFF COURT MONDAY
• WEEK 2 SELKIRK SHERIFF COURT MONDAY
• ON PUBLIC HOLIDAYS THE COURT MOVED TO NEXT WORKING DAY NORMALLY A TUESDAY

As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain the safety and security of buildings, personnel, and visitors across the site

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK and ability to pass BS7858 vetting.
• Valid SIA Licence
• Previous experience in a security role
• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to duties
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
