Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Security Officer to join our team at a long-standing site in Reading. This full-time role operates a 4on 4off 12-hour shift pattern (10:00–22:00).

You will engage with visitors, manage ID badges, and monitor CCTV, access control, alarms, and IT systems within a secure environment. The role requires SIA Licence (Door Supervision or Security Guarding), understanding of H&S, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while delivering excellent service.

Qualifications

• Understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act
• Criminal and Civil Law knowledge
• Police and Criminal Evidence Act awareness
• Ability to complete EDBS

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional presence: determined, trustworthy, attentive, and approachable
• Welcome clients and visitors warmly; Issue and manage ID badges
• Operate phones, emails, IT systems, CCTV, alarm systems, and access control
• Monitor and respond to suspicious activity and potential criminal behaviour
• Maintain control of incidents until emergency services arrive
• Record, report and escalate incidents to the Account Manager
