Job summary

MadiganGill seeks a reliable Security Officer for a vocational college campus in Bury, Manchester. Your role is to provide a visible, professional security presence, support a safe environment for students and staff, and respond calmly to incidents on site.

You will work as part of an established on-site security team, follow safeguarding protocols, carry out access control, and report concerns promptly. Fully provided uniform and ongoing training are offered.

Qualifications

• DBS (Enhanced) check within last 12 months or willingness to obtain.
• Original Right to Work documents must be provided.
• Experience in education sector is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible and approachable security presence across the college campus.
• Monitor for suspicious activity, unauthorised access, or behaviours of concern, taking proactive steps to address issues in line with college procedures.
• Support a safe and positive environment for students by maintaining a personable and pastoral‑aware approach, while respecting professional boundaries.
• Follow all safeguarding protocols and report concerns promptly.
• Assist with access control, visitor management, and incident reporting.
• Work effectively within a team and follow instructions from the on-site Supervisor.
• Respond to emergencies calmly and professionally.
• Ensure compliance with all site and organisational policies.
• Enhanced DBS (EDBS) check, (Child and Adult Workforce level) issued within the last 12 months (or willingness to obtain a new one).
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work various hours as required by the site.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Original Right to Work documentation must be provided.

Hourly Rate: £12.71 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, professional, and proactive Security Officer to join our team at a vocational college in Bury, Manchester. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for students, staff, and visitors.

This role requires a strong presence on site, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults. You will work as part of an established on-site security team, taking direction from the on-site Supervisor and acting as an ambassador for safety, professionalism, and positive engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Provide a visible and approachable security presence across the college campus.
