Job summary

Securitas UK is hiring a Security Officer for our Cambridge site. You will protect people, property and assets, monitor access, patrol premises, and operate CCTV and alarms. You’ll manage visitor passes, logs and routine security tasks while delivering excellent customer service.

We value reliability, vigilance and integrity. The role offers site-based responsibilities with night shifts and a strong focus on safety and teamwork within a respected security brand.

Qualifications

• SIA licence is required.
• BPSS clearance is preferred.
• Reliable and punctual with good time management.
• Eligible to work in the UK with a 5-year history.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.

Responsibilities

• Monitor access to the site and deter unauthorised entry.
• Conduct internal and external patrols and respond to alarms.
• Oversee CCTV and security systems and manage locking/unlocking duties.
• Issue visitor passes and log relevant records and logs.
• Support on-site traffic management and incident response.

Hours: 42 hours per week: Working 4 on, 4 off nights

We are seeking a professional and vigilant Security Officer to provide a high-quality security service, ensuring the protection of people, property, and assets at the site. You will be responsible for monitoring access to the premises, preventing unauthorised entry, responding to alarms, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and contractors. Delivering excellent customer service is essential, demonstrating integrity, vigilance, and a helpful approach at all times

The role as a Security Officer will involve conducting regular internal and external patrols, monitoring CCTV and security systems, carrying out locking and unlocking duties, managing visitor access, and maintaining accurate records and logbooks. You will also support traffic management on site, perform routine security equipment checks, and respond to any security-related incidents in line with site procedures.

Job Description

Responsibilities

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

• Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site. Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV as appropriate
• Conduct external and internal security patrols as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Carry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriate
• Manage keys and perform locking and unlocking duties as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Maintain all logbooks and records as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Issue visitor/contractor passes in accordance with the Assignment Instructions
• Provide support, guidance and information to all staff, visitors and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

• A valid SIA licence
• Able to obtain BPSS Clearance
• Reliable and punctual
• The right to work in the UK, with a 5-year checkable history
• British nationality and UK residency for the past 5 years (due to site requirements)
• Strong communication skills in English—both written and spoken
