Vacancy – Security Officer full-time

We are looking for a full-time Security Officer in the Security Department and are keen to receive internal and external applications.

The Security Officer will report directly to the Security Supervisor under the direction of the Head of Security and be able to assist with all day-to-day aspects of or security functions, ensuring the security and safety of our site, vessels, and assets. Could this be what you are looking for?

Part of APCL Group Cammell Laird is known across the globe. Our strategically located facility on the River Mersey operates across 5 core markets: defence refit and repair, commercial refit and repair, defence newbuild projects, commercial newbuild projects and energy.

Across 90 acres we operate four dry docks, a large modular construction hall and extensive covered workshops. We’ve played a strategic role in UK shipbuilding for the past 200 years.

So, what will you do?

  • Based in a gatehouse environment as a first point of contact, where use of company internal computer systems, and IT literacy is essential.
  • Your responsibilities would also include but not limited to front of house activities, regular external vehicle and foot patrols, Access, and Egress duties, Stop, search and spot check activities when required.
  • Checking your shift rotas and patterns fully aware of any changes in procedures or security risks, yard wide and in both gate houses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Compliance – Adhere to all company obligations, policies, and health & safety regulations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain Records – Accurately record and log all relevant information, including visitor logs, incidents, and key movements.
  • Liaise & Communicate – Work closely with the Security Team and other staff to ensure smooth operations and information flow.
  • Access Control – Monitor and control entry to the premises, verifying all documentation and ensuring authorised access only.
  • Patrol & Surveillance – Conduct regular patrols and monitor CCTV/alarm systems to protect property and detect suspicious activity.
  • Training & Drills – Support team training and participate in internal and external security exercises.
  • Report & Respond – Respond to incidents, complete detailed reports, and escalate issues to the appropriate authorities.
  • Assist Visitors – Escort visitors when required and serve as a point of contact for staff and guests.
