Job summary

Virgin Media is seeking a Security Monitoring Analyst in Northampton to act as the first line of defence against cyber threats. You will detect, analyse, and triage security alerts, classify incidents by severity and document actions in line with procedures.

The role requires close collaboration with the Security Monitoring Investigation Manager, ongoing vigilance across advanced tooling, and contributing to a 24/7 operational posture.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of cyber security threats, vulnerabilities and incidents.
• Familiarity with SIEM or similar monitoring platforms.
• Ability to analyse logs, network traffic and security alerts.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to assess and prioritise incidents.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure.
• A relevant degree in Cybersecurity, IT or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Detect, analyse and triage security alerts.
• Monitor alerts and classify incidents by severity.
• Escalate appropriately and document actions.
• Collaborate with the Security Monitoring Investigation Manager.
