Job description

Kepak is a global food company serving international retailers and food service household names with prime cuts of meat, on-trend food concepts and ready-for-market convenience foods.

Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers' counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.

We are excited to be recruiting for a Security Guard to work in our busy manufacturing site in Merthyr. This is a full time, permanent position reporting to the Security Manager.

The hours are full time, working both days and nights, 7am/7pm to 7pm/7am - 12 hour shifts, 4 on/4 off.

Role Purpose

Responsible for site security, being the first point of contact for Staff and Visitors, ensuring Security checks and protocols are in place and adhered to effectively.

Role Requirements
  1. Booking in/out Site visitors and vehicles
  2. Booking in cattle/sheep deliveries to site
  3. Monitoring fire and plant alarms, reacting accordingly in line with procedures
  4. Coordination of Site Evacuation Procedure
  5. Monitoring of Site CCTV systems
  6. Administration of site and department specific documentation
  7. Check and monitor site refrigeration systems
  8. Undertake Site patrols and inspections in accordance with management instructions
  9. Answering and diverting calls and queries promptly and politely
  10. Any other duties as required by management and within the competency of the post holder.
Requirements
Attributes, Skills and Experience Requirements
  • Experience working in a Security role in an Industrial Environment preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of animal welfare preferred
  • SIA Licence preferable, but not essential
  • Flexible approach to working and committed to working night and day shifts and weekends, on a rotational basis
  • Excellent customer service delivery
  • Display a polite and professional attitude to internal and external guests
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of making sound business suggestions
  • Ability to work effectively and confidently under pressure
  • Commitment to good practice and quality products
  • Fluent English, Communicate well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels
  • Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines
  • Relationship builder with influencing skill
  • IT skills (particularly MS Office)
