Job summary

Orbis Group is seeking its first dedicated Security Engineer to own the organisation's day-to-day security capabilities and shape the long-term security strategy. You will work within the infrastructure team, collaborating with cloud, engineering and technology teams to strengthen security across a modern tech estate.

This hands-on role focuses on building, improving and owning security rather than just managing it, with broad remit across cloud security, infrastructure and AI security.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in Security Engineering or Cyber Security.
• Strong hands-on capability across cloud and infrastructure security.
• Experience securing AWS and modern cloud platforms.
• Kubernetes experience is a plus.
• Experience in regulated financial environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day security capability across the organisation.

We're working with a highly regarded investment management firm to appoint their first dedicated Security Engineer.

This is a unique opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of its security journey, taking ownership of cybersecurity across the organisation and helping shape its long-term security strategy.

You'll become the dedicated security specialist within a collaborative infrastructure team, working closely with cloud, engineering and technology teams to strengthen security across a modern technology estate.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys building, improving and owning security rather than simply managing it.

The Role

• Take ownership of the organisation's day-to-day security capability.
• Design, implement and continuously improve security controls across cloud and infrastructure environments.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Cloud and Engineering teams to embed security into technology delivery.
• Drive vulnerability management, incident response and security best practices.
• Support the secure adoption and governance of AI technologies across the business.
• Advise technical and business stakeholders on security risks, architecture and remediation.
• Help define and mature the firm's long-term cybersecurity strategy.

What we're looking for

• Around 5-8 years' experience in Security Engineering or Cyber Security.
• Strong hands-on technical capability across cloud and infrastructure security.
• Experience securing AWS and modern cloud platforms.
• Kubernetes experience would be highly advantageous.
• Previous experience within financial services, asset management, hedge funds or another highly regulated environment.
• A builder mindset - someone who enjoys creating, improving and owning security capabilities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across both technical and non-technical teams.
