Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Security Engineer for a hybrid role based in Edinburgh. This 6-month contract requires at least 5 years of experience with Linux and Windows operating systems, along with skills in C, Java, and database SQL. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with GitHub and ClearCase, and proven troubleshooting abilities. This role is subject to IR35 regulations.

Security Engineer

Whitehall Resources are seeking a Security Engineer for a hybrid role based in Edinburgh, with 2-3 days per week onsite and the rest remote, for an initial 6-month contract.

Inside IR35

Your responsibilities:
  • Installation of Operating System patches and third-party software such as Oracle, NetApp, etc.
  • System configuration and hands-on experience with GitHub and ClearCase.
Essential skills and experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • At least 5 years of experience with C, Java, Oracle Database SQL, Shell Scripting, with the ability to read and interpret logs and debug files.
  • Experience in installing operating system patches and third-party software like Oracle, NetApp, etc.
  • System configuration skills and hands-on experience with GitHub and ClearCase.
  • Proficiency in TRELLIX.
Desirable skills and experience:
  • Experience in applying fixes on live customer systems.
  • Proven problem analysis, identification, and resolution skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, with good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Outlook.
