Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Security Engineer to advance our digital security posture. Based at Knutsford or Glasgow, you will develop, implement and maintain security solutions safeguarding bank systems and sensitive data.

You will operate across DLP and security tooling, drive incidents to remediation, document rigorously, and collaborate with stakeholders and product vendors for enhancements.

Qualifications

Job description

Join us as a Security Engineer at Barclays where you'll spearhead the evolution of our digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence. You'll harness cutting-edge technology to revolutionise our digital offerings, ensuring unapparelled customer experiences. The purpose of this role is to develop, implement and maintain solutions that support the safeguarding of the banks systems and sensitive information.

The key accountabilities of the role include; building, deploy and maintaining DLP services and policies, driving service-level incidents through to remediation, creating and maintaining high-quality documentation, engaging with stakeholders to ensure requirements are prioritised and expectations are set, working with other DLP SME’s to ensure adequate service coverage across DLP tooling, evaluating and implementing technical changes and project deliverables and engaging product vendors where necessary for incident investigation and product enhancements.

To be successful as Cyber Defence Engineering Lead you should have:

  • Hands-on expertise with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and security analytics platforms such as Sentinel, Splunk, Elastic, Cribl, and Observe.
  • Strong background in Python development, automation, DevSecOps, and security engineering and automation principles.
  • Experience with Configuration as Code (CaC/IaC), GitLab, Git workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven platform engineering and technical leadership experience, supporting and enhancing security platforms.
Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include
  • Experience within the financial services industry.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

This role will be based out of our Knutsford or Glasgow campus

Purpose of the role

To develop, implement and maintain solutions that support the safeguarding of the banks systems and sensitive information.

Accountabilities
  • Provision of subject matter expertise on security systems and engineering patterns.
  • Development and implementation of protocols, algorithms, and software applications to protect sensitive data and systems.
  • Management and protection of secrets, ensuring that they are securely generated, stored, and used.
  • Execution of audits to monitor, identify and assess vulnerabilities in the banks infrastructure/software and support the response to potential security breaches.
  • Identification of advancements in to support the innovation and adoption of new cryptographic technologies and techniques.
  • Collaboration across the bank, including developers and security teams, to ensure that cryptographic solutions align with business objectives, security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Development/ Implementation and maintenance of Identity and Access Management solutions and systems.
