Job summary

Kainos is a high-growth IT services company delivering digital technology solutions and agile software development across public and private sectors in the UK. As Security Controller, you will lead delivery of security initiatives and ensure projects comply with government and industry standards.

You will work with central and delivery teams, shaping security policies, auditing risks, and building a culture that prioritises safety and resilience.

Qualifications

• Current UK security clearance holder.
• Deep experience with BPSS/UKSV vetting processes.
• Experience creating and implementing physical and personnel security policies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks.
• Experience coaching security best practices.
• Experience in threat & risk management processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement security policies, procedures and protocols.
• Maintain a security culture aligned with Kainos values.
• Communicate threats and actions to staff and partners.
• Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
• Oversee aftercare activities and incident reports.
• Ensure compliance with IPSA and FSC schemes.
• Collaborate with Delivery Teams and managers to capture lessons learned.
• Manage customer security checks and onboarding requirements.
• Coordinate visits and inspections by government or contracting authorities.

Main purpose of role &responsibilitiesin the business:

As aSecurity Controllerin Kainos, you will play a lead rolein ensuringcustomer projects are delivered incompliance with Kainos’,customer’sand industrybest practicesforphysical &personnelsecurity.

You will workacross the business, with both our central teams anddelivery teams. Using your deep experience of security practices, you willactively supportthe engagement withKainosstakeholders, gaining their buy-into implement securitypolicies and procedures. You will act as arole model andleaderfor securityin Kainos, owning the delivery ofsecurityinitiatives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Working to co-create, develop, andthenmanagesecurity policies, procedures, and protocols.

• Creating andmaintaininga security culture that aligns with Kainos’values.

• Communicatingcurrent and relevantsecurity threats and actionsto employees and partners.

• Conducting regular security audits and risk assessments toidentifyvulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.

• ManageAftercareActivities such as Change of Circumstances(CoC), Overseas Travel Briefings and Aftercare Incident Reports (AIR).

• Maintainingour compliance withgovernment security schemes, such as IPSA (Industry Personnel Security Assessment) andFSC (Facility Security Clearance).

• Working with Delivery Teams, People Support and Line Managers toidentifyand implement any security lessons learnt.

• Manage customer security checks and onboarding requirements to ensure staff canjoin projects quicklywhileremainingcompliant.

• Facilitate where necessary visits and inspections by individualsrepresentingeither the Government or Contracting Authority and to ensure any relevant documentation, process or records are available for inspection.

Minimum (essential) requirements:

• Current holder of UK security clearance

• Deep experience of HMG BPSS and UKSV vetting processes

• Experiencecreating &implementingphysical andpersonnelsecurity policies

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Able to work under pressure and prioritise work asrequired

• Experience coaching and mentoringin securitybest practices

• Experiencein implementingthreat & risk managementprocesses

Desirable:

• Experience working with a Digital organisation in MOD,Defenceor National Security.

• Previousexperienceas a Security Officeror Security Controller.

• Experience working on client site day-to-day

• Active participant in communities of interest (e.g. online groups, speaking at conferences etc.)

• Experience working within a Project Management Office
