Job summary

SiXworks in the United Kingdom is seeking a Security Consultant / System Security Consultant to help protect mission-critical systems and information. You will join an operational team responsible for security and compliance across internal infrastructure, delivering secure design, risk assessments, and ongoing assurance.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Software Engineering, DevSecOps, and Infrastructure teams to implement policy, manage risk, and produce evidence for regulatory

Qualifications

• Experience of risk assessments using industry methodologies (NIST, ISO 27005).
• Identify risk management activities to mitigate risks.
• Create security documentation to support information system development.
• High standards in written and design documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage change securely and effectively.
• Experience with Azure, M365, Intune, JAMF, Windows, macOS and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD in secure environments.
• Appreciation of constraints in secure, safety-critical environments.

We're looking for a Security Consultant / System Security Consultant who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges and wants their work to have real operational impact.

What You'll Do

As a Security Consultant / System Security Consultant, you'll ensure that the systems and information at SiXworks are suitably secured to enable business operations. This is an operational role that manages ongoing security and compliance of our internal infrastructure. This is a key role that implements the policy and direction set by our senior management team and works closely with the IT service delivery team to maintain ongoing security assurance.

• Cyber Risk Management.
• Ensure security of all internal systems.
• Develop and maintain security policies
• Ensure system design and implementation meets security outcomes.
• Produce evidence to meet various MOD regulations.
• Work closely with various practises (Software Engineering, DevSecOps Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Agile Development, Support) to achieve security outcomes.
• Reporting to senior management on compliance, cyber risks of internal services.
• Work with project teams on improving operational security, providing security consultancy.

What We're Looking For

We value people who take ownership, think critically, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team tackling complex challenges. You don't need to tick every box, but we're particularly interested in people with skills/experience in:

• Experience of working on risk assessments using industry approved methodologies (such as NIST, ISO 27005).
• Identification of suitable risk management activities (technical, physical, or procedural) to treat /mitigate the identified risks.
• Creation of security documentation to support the development of an information system, these could include: Security Aspects of Design, Risk Assessments, Risk Management Plans, Security Policies, Security Test Plans/Results.
• High standards in written report and/or design documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to manage change securely and effectively.
• Experience of Azure, M365, Intune, JAMF, Windows, macOS and Kubernetes environments.
• Knowledge and experience of Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD principles and their application in secure environments
• Appreciation of the constraints and requirements imposed on development within secure, safety critical environments.
