A global IT consultancy seeks a Security Cleared OpenShift Platform Subject Matter Expert to lead the technical assurance and migration for an OpenShift upgrade project. This contract role emphasizes strong OpenShift and Kubernetes skills, involving application migration and platform stability validation. Candidates will work with CI/CD tools and must possess relevant certifications.
We have partnered with a global IT consultancy on a high-priority OpenShift platform upgrade and are looking for a Security Cleared (SC) OpenShift Platform Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead technical assurance, validation, and migration activities for a new OpenShift 4.18 environment.
This is a contract position (inside IR35) and SC clearance is required (or you must be eligible and willing to go through vetting).
Project Overview:
You'll support the migration of critical workloads from OpenShift 4.14 to a clean-slate 4.18 build. This includes validating core components, migrating applications and operators, and ensuring platform stability for essential business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Build and validate OpenShift 4.x clusters from scratch
Migrate apps, infrastructure components, and OpenShift operators
Validate platform configurations, installation scripts, and services
Work closely with CI/CD tools, IaC, and GitOps methodologies
Technical Skills Required
Strong OpenShift & Kubernetes experience (v4.x preferred)
Comfortable with enterprise OpenShift setup and tuning
Familiar with key operators: Vault, Quay, Clair, Keycloak, Istio
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible)
CI/CD tools: Jenkins, ArgoCD, Tekton
Scripting in Bash or Python
Desirable Certifications
Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift
Kubernetes CKA
Red Hat Certified Application Developer
Additional Info:
Remote-first (some travel to Lincoln or Newcastle if needed)
