Job description

As part of the Transport UK Group, West Midlands Trains delivers around 1,300 train journeys a day, for more than 60 million passengers a year, across our two brands - West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway.

We are committed to delivering a safe and reliable train service, by investing in our fleet of trains, stations and employees. As part of this investment, we are looking to recruit aSecurity & CCTV Coordinatoron a full-time, permanent basis based inBirmingham.

What does the role involve?

  • Provide support to the HSSE Director, Head of Security, Security & CCTV Manager as required
  • Handling, management, and processing of CCTV across WMT
  • Access control to all CCTV services providing and withdrawing permissions as required and the monitoring of CCTV misuse to protect the integrity of the WMT CCTV operation
  • Liaise with external partners such as the British Transport Police, Civil Police Forces, ORR, Network Rail, Coroners Court and other internal and external stakeholders as the principal contact within WMT regarding CCTV
  • Engage with internal and external suppliers relating to CCTV or infrastructure requests to maintain the service and availability
  • Liaising with West Midlands Trains management teams on CCTV requests, supply issues and security initiatives
  • Visit locations as necessary companywide to support the retrieval of CCTV footage and ensure chain of custody is maintained for fast and accurate supply to requestor.
  • Support any legal proceedings relating to CCTV requests and support Data Protection through the supply and potential redaction of footage.
  • To act as the point of contact in West Midlands Trains for collating, recording and tracking CCTV for the business and always maintaining the CCTV ‘chain of custody’.
  • Liaising under legal obligations with internal and external parties to maximise the level of information available from West Midlands Trains following incidents to passengers, staff and property.
  • Manage performance of existing services and systems highlighting issues to the line managers with a solution-based approach
  • Provision of detailed reports for the Health, Safety, Security and Environment Directorate as required supporting the arching Security and Safeguarding Strategies
  • Provide support to Security Management and various stakeholder meetings as required
  • Control the Body Worn Camera (BWC) footage vault and to act on any requests for footage to be saved or supplied
  • To assist, support and project manage on individual Security projects such as and not limited to, Body Worn Camera initiatives, Trespass and Graffiti, Safeguarding and all aspects of Security and Safeguarding

What skills and experience do I need to do the job?

  • Knowledge of CCTV procedure and protocols
  • Knowledge of railway environment
  • Security, CCTV, Policing, Armed Forces Background preferable,
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work independently and confident to communicate with all stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Able to prioritise workloads and operate within strict timeframes
