Job description

Job Summary

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department, we operate on a scale that is almost unmatched anywhere in Europe and most people in Britain come into contact with us at some point in their lives. Consequently, DWP faces a substantial threat to its services, data, people and assets and invests huge resources into combatting this threat. This work is lead by the talented and dedicated individuals of the DWP Security function but stretches into every aspect of the Department’s work.

The Security Business Intelligence Management (BIM) Team is at the very centre of Security and Data Protection (S&DP), and you will be working not just across the security function and Finance Group, but across all areas of DWP and occasionally with other Government Departments such as Cabinet office.

Working closely with Professionalisation and Capability colleagues and those within our Cyber Resilience Centre, Data Protection Office, Security Policy and Central Services and Enterprise Security and Risk Management you will lead workforce management, resourcing and recruiting activity contributing to the delivery of S&DPs strategic vision and operating model and ensure that security contributes optimally towards the delivery of Departmental objectives.

You will support and champion, as appropriate, the use of the NIST Cyber Security Framework, which unites the Department under a common security language and structure.

Job Description

The post holders will play a central role in leading, influencing, and supporting the strategic direction for resourcing, recruitment, and retention within the Security and Data Protection function of DWP.

  • Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including but not limited to FG Central Team, Civil Service Recruitment, and S&DP, to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.
