Job Description

The Security Assurance Coordinator (SAC) will be responsible for ensuring security compliance and accreditation of systems and networks within the defence sector. The role involves producing high-standard security documentation, managing risk assessments, and understanding complex defence network architectures. The candidate must have SC clearance and be a sole British national.

Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Security Assurance Coordinator role, including accreditation of novel system/network architectures.
  • Detailed knowledge of defence policies and standards, especially JSP 440, 453, and HMG policies.
  • Experience in producing RMADS, Security Instructions, and security policy documentation.
  • Knowledge of Security Incident Management policies and procedures.
  • Experience delivering Risk Assessments, managing IT health checks, and remediation activities.
  • Understanding of the Software Defined Data Centre (SDDC) model and large-scale virtualisation technologies.
  • Knowledge of UK Defence network architectures, security gateways, and modern security enforcement techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Current SC clearance, with readiness to undergo DV clearance if necessary.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Desirable Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Experience working in Agile and Waterfall project environments, especially in delivering accreditation evidence.
  • Experience within the public sector, particularly Defence or Defence Digital.
  • Knowledge of Cloud and Data Centre security architectures.
  • Security qualifications such as CISSP, CISA, CCP SIRA Practitioner or above, ISO27001 Auditor.
  • Experience with audit tools like ELASTIC and SolarWinds.
