Ex-Mil Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Security Architect for a UK-based, defence-focused programme. The role involves technical leadership across security architecture, secure-by-design principles, and productionalisation of capabilities for an MVP-to-operations transition.
The successful candidate will work with Security-by-Design specialists, Solution Architects, DevOps and assurance teams in a high-assurance defence context, often on a remote basis across the UK.
Are you an ex-military cyber, communications, security engineering or architecture professional who wants to take your technical experience into a specialist defence role?
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.
I’m working on a Security Architect opportunity supporting a high‑assurance UK defence programme and this is one for someone who wants to get into the technical detail, not simply produce architecture diagrams.
The programme is already in development and moving from Minimum Viable Product (MVP) towards operational capability, with the successful candidate joining a long‑term team responsible for taking secure‑by‑design principles into real‑world defence delivery.
You’ll be operating as a principal‑level technical security lead, working alongside Security‑by‑Design specialists, Solution Architects, DevOps and security assurance teams.
The work will involve areas such as:
This isn't simply an architecture translation role.
The client is looking for someone who understands the technical realities of building secure defence capability — particularly how you take a developing capability from MVP through productionalisation and into secure operational delivery.
You could come from a traditional Security Architecture background or be a strong cyber/security/network engineer who has moved into architecture and technical leadership.
The client values defence experience and credibility, but just as importantly is looking for someone who is low ego, collaborative, inclusive and comfortable operating as part of a technically strong team.
It’s preferred if candidates are based South Coast / South‑Centrally, but not essential.
If you're an ex‑Service cyber/security professional who has moved into architecture I'd be very interested in speaking with you.
