Job summary

Howdens Joinery is seeking an experienced Security Engineer with architecture influence to embed security across our systems, projects, and technology landscape. Based from our Northampton office, you will work with Cyber SMEs and Enterprise Architecture to shape secure designs and promote best practices.

You’ll partner with technical teams, the PMO and external suppliers to ensure security is built in from design through deployment and handover, with travel to other locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience leading security solutions across full lifecycle.
• Strong security architecture focus with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• CISSP or CISM qualification or equivalent.
• Knowledge of ISO27001, PCI DSS and Zero Trust.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.
• Solid understanding of lateral movement risks, network segmentation and endpoint security.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver security solutions that support Howdens' business goals and risk strategy.
• Provide security architecture input across infra, cloud, and applications.
• Lead architecture reviews to ensure secure, scalable designs.
• Support procurement and evaluation of security technologies.
• Collaborate with Cyber SMEs and Enterprise Architecture for a joined-up security approach.
• Promote information security best practices and policy compliance.
