Job summary

Howdens Joinery Co. is seeking an experienced Security Engineer with architecture influence to embed security across our systems, projects and technology landscape from design through to implementation and handover.

You will work with Cyber and Enterprise Architecture teams, suppliers, PMO and technical teams to ensure secure decisions, resilient and compliant digital solutions, with Northampton-based onsite work at least 2 days per week.

Qualifications

• Experience leading solutions through full lifecycle: architecture to deployment and handover.
• CISSP/CISM or equivalent certification.
• Knowledge of ISO27001, PCI DSS, and Zero Trust frameworks.
• Strong communication to influence colleagues at all levels.
• Knowledge of lateral movement risks, network segmentation, and endpoint security.
• Understanding of protocol analysis, network architecture, and infrastructure design.
• Experience working with third-party suppliers and agile environments.
• Presentation or training experience in IT security is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Designing and delivering security solutions aligned to business goals and risk strategy.
• Provide security architecture input across infra, cloud, and applications projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to balance business needs and security requirements.
• Lead and support secure solution design and re-architecture initiatives.
• Conduct security architecture reviews to identify risks and drive improvements.
• Support evaluation and procurement of security technologies aligned with standards.
• Work with Cyber SMEs and Enterprise Architecture for a joined-up security approach.
• Promote information security best practices and compliance with policy.
