Security Architect - M365 / Modern Workplace

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Modern Workplace / M365 Security Architect to lead the design, governance, and oversight of Microsoft 365 security solutions across the enterprise. This role covers the entire Modern Workplace Delivery portfolio, intersecting with end-user productivity and related systems. It is crucial in shaping and maintaining a secure environment aligned with organizational goals, compliance standards, and evolving threats.

The role resides within the delivery function but requires strong collaboration with the Information Security team to ensure design and solution assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and lead the architectural design of secure Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Develop and maintain the enterprise security architecture strategy for M365, aligned with Zero Trust principles and business needs.
• Implement security controls using Microsoft technologies such as Defender XDR, Microsoft Purview, Entra ID, and Intune.
• Provide security assurance for other technologies within the delivery portfolio.
• Guide governance on identity, access management, data protection, device management, and threat protection within M365.
• Collaborate with IT, security, legal, and compliance teams to align security policies and controls.
• Conduct risk assessments, design mitigation strategies, and lead incident response related to M365 and end-user services.
• Stay updated on M365 developments and cyber threats to recommend improvements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Extensive experience architecting secure M365 solutions in complex enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft security technologies like Defender for Office 365, Microsoft Purview, Entra ID, and Intune.
• Knowledge of security frameworks (Zero Trust, NIST, ISO 27001, CIS), compliance (GDPR, HIPAA), and risk management.
• Understanding of cloud identity models, conditional access, MFA, RBAC, and privileged access management.
• Proficiency with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API).
• Microsoft certifications such as SC-100, SC-300, MS-500, or AZ-500 preferred.
