As the Security Architect, you will be responsible for setting and overseeing cyber-security standards, blueprints, and architectures, enabling Openwork to achieve its corporate ambitions in a safe and controlled manner. Working alongside technology and business units to ensure services harness the full benefits of secure-by-design hybrid-cloud computing platforms.

You will provide thought leadership and operate as the go-to expert within the business regarding cyber-security innovation and adoption. Overseeing cyber-security for application architectures, designs, and deployment.

This is a hybrid role based in our Swindon office, with the requirement to be in the office 2 days a week.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Shaping and executing the cyber-security strategy to align with broader technology and business plans.
• Designing and delivering architectural standards, reference architectures, and designs.
• Staying informed about cyber-security technology trends and the competitive landscape to guide our technology strategy.
• Acting as the go-to expert for innovation and development, working effectively with the business to maximize cyber-security adoption while minimizing costs and risks.
• Managing the adoption of policies, processes, operating models, and cultural changes across the organization.
• Building strong relationships with technology and business stakeholders, communicating effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborating with product and change teams to maximize opportunities and reduce complexity and technical debt.
• Defining security requirements early in project lifecycles, tailored to each project's needs.
• Providing security assurance for significant changes, including new projects and major re-architectures.

What will you need to succeed?

• A strong background in cyber-security, with expertise in application architectures, data security, data loss prevention, hybrid-cloud solutions, and their respective advantages and disadvantages.
• Ideally, a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience, along with architecture or security certifications such as TOGAF, PCIRM, or CISMP.
• Expertise in designing, building, and deploying secure-by-design solutions, including coding standards, application security testing (e.g., Veracode & Fortify), penetration testing, and threat modeling tools like STRIDE and Application WAF.
• Deep knowledge of security protocols, authentication, authorization, and identity & access management, including privilege access management, API gateway, and API authentication and authorization.
• Experience with securely implementing and consuming services from Microsoft platforms such as Azure, Office 365, Entra ID, Dynamics, Power Platform, etc.
• Ability to work effectively with other architecture team members, broader technology and business teams, and delegate responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and senior non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with standards such as NIST.
• Experience in market analysis, working with suppliers/vendors/partners, defining RFI/RFPs, evaluating responses, and making recommendations.
