Job summary

Reed is seeking a Security Architect to shape security vision, strategy, and roadmaps. You will collaborate with senior leadership to deliver secure systems across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments from Newport, with a hybrid work setup.

The role requires extensive experience in governance, compliance, risk, and security controls, and you will champion Secure by Design principles while ensuring alignment with standards such as PCI, ISO 27001, and GovAssure.

Qualifications

• Broad technical knowledge across cloud and hybrid technologies.
• Strong understanding of security protocols, networking, identity management, authentication, authorisation, and cryptography.
• Solid grasp of Governance, Compliance, and Risk, including the CIA triad.
• Ability to evaluate options, assess risks, and make informed security decisions.
• Up-to-date knowledge of emerging security technologies, threats, and trends.
• Substantial practical experience across security architecture, cloud and hybrid technologies, security governance, compliance and risk.
• Demonstrated application of security best practices within an organisation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the Chief Security Officer, Head of Cyber, Lead Security Architect, and the wider security team.
• Shape security solutions and controls across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid platforms.
• Provide oversight, support, and advice to enable technical teams to make informed security decisions.
• Ensure continued compliance with key security standards and frameworks such as PCI, ISO 27001, Secure by Design, and GovAssure.
• Champion Secure by Design principles and ensure common security tools and patterns are used effectively to deliver secure systems and proportionate controls.
• Provide security advice and best practices that help protect organisational assets and embed security principles, policies, and processes across the organisation.

• Annual Salary: £47,700- £52,000
• Location: Newport, South Wales
• Job Type: Hybrid (20% office attendance)
