Job summary

Our Future Health is expanding its Information Security team with a hands-on Security Architect role. You’ll influence cloud-first security across products, act as trusted advisor to squads and engineering teams, and translate risks into pragmatic design improvements to enable growth while keeping data safe.

You’ll bring extensive cloud security architecture experience, threat modelling, and knowledge of ISO 27001 and modern cloud tech.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience securely architecting cloud-native systems, both at high-level and technical detail.
• Experience developing security requirements and enterprise security artefacts.
• Experience with DevSecOps squads in a total ownership model.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001 and other security standards; security controls across cloud environments.

As Our Future Health continues to scale, we’re investing in and expanding our Information Security team to ensure security remains a strategic enabler of growth. We’re now looking for a technically astute Security Architect to play a key role in supporting our Researcher pillar, helping us build secure, scalable solutions that empower innovation while protecting what matters most. In this highly visible and impactful role, you’ll bring clarity to complexity and confidence to cloud‑first design. Working closely with squads, architects, engineers, and stakeholders, you’ll help shape secure architecture across the organisation, guiding integrations, influencing design decisions, and ensuring our security approach remains consistent, pragmatic, and fit for the future. This is a hands‑on position that blends enterprise and technical security architecture. You’ll enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, translating risks into meaningful business conversations, and embedding secure‑by‑design principles from strategy through to implementation. What you’ll be doing

You’ll influence the security architecture that underpins our products, platforms, and cloud‑first environment. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to squads, helping teams make secure and informed technology decisions. You’ll partner with engineers to build security into solutions from the outset, rather than bolting it on later. You’ll work across architecture, engineering, and data teams to solve complex technical challenges and drive alignment. You’ll lead threat modelling activities and turn security risks into practical design improvements. You’ll help ensure our security strategies, controls, and patterns remain effective as our organisation continues to scale. You’ll champion secure‑by‑design thinking and promote consistency across multiple teams and domains. You’ll communicate security risks, opportunities, and recommendations in a way that resonates with different audiences. You’ll support strategic Researcher initiatives that deliver meaningful value to our researchers and support our commercial growth plans. You’ll play an active role in evolving our engineering culture, contributing to better, safer, and more scalable ways of working.

To succeed in this role you will be able to demonstrate some of the following skills and experience:

• Extensive experience of securely architecting cloud native systems, both at a high‑level and in the technical details.
• Extensive experience of developing security requirements.
• Experience of working with DevSecOps squads (or similar) in a 'total ownership' model.
• Experience creating enterprise security architecture artefacts.
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender suite, Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Purview and Azure security services (e.g. Key Vault, NSGs, WAF, etc.).
• Experience with Kubernetes (Azure Kubernetes Service) and data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, Dagster).
• Proven understanding of security risk management.
• Excellent understanding of common security controls, in particular cloud security controls.
• Understanding of threat modelling.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001 and other commonly used security standards.
• Understanding of modern cloud technologies.
• Exposure to Agile working.
• Ability to translate between technical and non‑technical teams.
• Desire to be part of a small fast‑paced team.
• Relevant certifications, such as: SABSA Chartered Security Architect, CREST Registered Technical Security Architect (CRTSA), CISM, CISSP, Microsoft certifications (MS-500, AZ-500, AZ-700, SC-200, SC-300), CompTIA Security+ and Cloud+, Cloud Security Alliance CCSK.

Salary from £90,000 per annum.
