Job summary

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) seeks a Security Advisor to lead and coordinate physical and cyber-physical security across its operations in the UK. You will influence policy, perform risk assessments, and drive protective security measures with a focus on resilience and governance.

You will work with government standards, support third-party risk management, and help cultivate a proactive security culture across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in physical and procedural security with risk-management focus.
• Familiarity with Government Security Classification Policy (GSCP) and implementing control measures.
• Experience implementing National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) principles of protective security.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting security risk assessments and protective security audits.
• Support development and maintenance of security policies, procedures and standards.
• Conduct or support security investigations and root-cause analysis when required.
• Assist in developing screening and vetting processes aligned with UK law.
• Contribute to security awareness training and internal communications.
