  • Provide oversight of clinical performance, quality and governance with regard to indicators, audits and local intelligence.

Job description

We are pleased to advertise one Sector Clinical Lead post within the Central (South) Lancashire Sector. This Band 8a role is a key part of the sector leadership team, reporting to the Area Consultant Paramedic and working closely with the Sector Manager and operational leadership colleagues.

The Sector Clinical Lead will provide senior clinical leadership across the sector, acting as a clinical subject matter expert. The post holder will support clinical governance, patient safety, pathway development, clinical supervision, education and improvement activity, ensuring that local clinical risks, themes and opportunities for learning are identified, acted upon and shared.

The post holder will lead and support high-level clinical themed incident reviews and contribute to system-level investigations, including internal and external clinical investigations where required. They will work within NWAS patient safety governance arrangements, including PSIRF-aligned processes, local learning from deaths reviews, Duty of Candour and associated improvement activity. The role will also support audit, evaluation and improvement work, ensuring that learning is translated into measurable changes in practice.

The Sector Clinical Lead will provide oversight and assurance in relation to clinical performance, quality and governance within the Central Lancashire Sector. This will include Ambulance Quality Indicators, clinical audit outputs, incident themes, clinical quality data and local intelligence to identify variation, support improvement plans and provide clear assurance to the Sector Manager and Area Consultant Paramedic.

The role will support local health and care system engagement across the regions working with partners to strengthen clinical pathways, reduce unwarranted variation, improve patient outcomes and contribute to the Trust’s commitments around inequalities, inclusion and person-centred care.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.

We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
