Job overview

We have the opportunity to offer an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician or Production Technician with manufacturing experience, the chance to further develop their technical services knowledge and experience in a wide range of areas and management skills, working in our busy and well-established modern chemotherapy production facility.

This post is based in the Chemotherapy Services Unite at St Bartholomew's Hospital, but some cross site meeting attendance and training may be required, on occasion. The unit provides chemotherapy doses to a variety of wards and clinics within the hospitals and supplies over 5,000 doses of chemotherapy per year including traditional chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs).

This post aims to provide senior support and supervision to all staff undertaking production activities within the unit and to facilitate delivery of this critical service to our patients.

You will be joining a dynamic and supportive team of Production Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists at an exciting and challenging time in developing a first-class aseptic service. Full training will be provided with opportunities actively encouraged to develop your skills and further your career within the team and beyond. Main duties of the job

To provide supervision and support manufacturing within the production unit to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner following approved procedures. This includes supervising staff, processes and use of equipment in the preparation of a range of aseptic medicinal products.
To support the Section Managers across Pharmacy Technical Services as needed and to provide input into the development of services across the department.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians Registered with Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 (RSciTech)
  • Pre and in process checking (PIPC) or willing to work toward in first year
  • Accuracy checking Pharmacy Technician course (ACPT) or willing to work toward in first year
  • ILM L3 in Leadership and Management or equivalent qualification in management or equivalent experience
  • Train the trainer or Practice supervisor
  • MSc Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (PTQA)
  • Clean room supervisor (APDM Leeds).
  • Aseptic Preparation and Dispensing of Medicines (APDM).

Experience

  • Relevant experience within a GMP / aseptic facility or work as a pharmacy technician or production technician
  • Experience in a GMP / aseptic supervisory or training role
  • Managerial experience/experience of management of junior staff.
  • Use of Datix incident reporting system or equivalent
  • Demonstrate ability to problem solve and use initiative
  • Experience in chemotherapy manufacturing
  • Experience of recruitment and selection
  • Experience in Quality Management Systems / Pharmacy Quality Systems
  • Experience using BD Cato
  • Experience of using CMM
  • Experience of using Q Pulse
  • Experience of conducting appraisals or one to one meeting
