Job description

About the role

SZC is owned by shareholders EDF and HMG, holding investments through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. The shareholdings will change during the current arrangements.

The shareholders will fund SZC until Financial Close through equity, following the approved schedule and budget. SZC's business involves designing, financing, constructing, commissioning, operating, maintaining, and decommissioning the Sizewell C nuclear power plant and related infrastructure, including activities related to hydrogen, direct air capture, and desalination. The main objectives during the current development phase include completing the Capital Raise Plan, securing core supply chain contracts, and obtaining necessary regulatory permits and licenses.

Prior to the government investment decision, SZC operated as part of EDF within the Nuclear Development business unit and was staffed by EDF colleagues and contractors transferring to SZC employment. It aims to deliver a new nuclear power plant, from investment and funding to construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning.

The SZC construction program is based on replicating the Hinkley Point C technical and commercial business case. EDF will be a key supplier of nuclear capability for SZC from its UK footprint.

Key stakeholders include: UK Government, relevant departments and agencies (Treasury, BEIS), EDF, financial investors, regulators, alliance partners, and local communities.

What you'll be doing

The Enabling Works and Earthwork scope includes design, planning, procurement, and execution of early civils activities such as SSSI Crossing, ground improvements, dewatering, diaphragm walls, sea defense, marine bulk import facility, beach landing facility, construction drainage outfall, and bulk earthworks.
