A leading logistics company based in Derby is seeking a Section Leader to oversee warehouse operations. You will manage day-to-day activities, ensuring safety and efficiency while motivating your team. Ideal candidates will have team leadership experience in logistics and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Salary is £31,884.72 plus a late shift allowance.

Qualifications

We currently have a vacancy for a section Leader based at Derby with a Shift Pattern 12:30 to 21:00 Monday to Friday. The salary for this role is £31884.72 with a £832 Late shift allowance (Depending on experience).

The successful candidate will support the effective running of the warehouse operation, managing the day to day activities of Team Members / General Operatives to ensure that customer requirements are achieved in a timely manner.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Operations
    • Oversee the effective running of the shift to ensure products are safely handled through all processes, ensuring all company procedures are adhered to, to meet customer expectations.
    • Responsible for the smooth running of your designated shift, ensuring staff are briefed and managed in accordance with SOP’s and WI’s.
    • Oversee employee relations procedures such as holiday authorisations to ensure sufficient levels of employees are available as required to meet operational demands, raising in a timely manner where additional staff are required either on a temporary or permanent basis.
    • Carry out any other reasonable requests to support the effective running of the warehouse, including supporting other teams and shifts as necessary.
  2. Company Procedures
    • Ensure all company procedures are adhered to, including ER procedures, such as absence and performance management, standards of behaviour, disciplinary, PDR etc (supporting with investigations and disciplinary hearings as necessary).
    • Ensure consistent 5S compliance - Sort, Straighten, Sanitise, Standardise, Sustain.
  3. Communication
    • Ensure that all business communications are effectively managed and shared with the team as appropriate.
  4. Continuous Improvement
    • Continuously look to improve processes and procedures to drive efficiency and improvement in business operation and customer service.
  5. Health and Safety
    • Ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to, including PPE, escalating any concerns to your line manager at the earliest opportunity. Ensure all equipment checks are carried out in accordance with procedure, raising any defects to your line manager.
Key Skills
  • Team leadership/supervision experience from logistics or production with strong ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Confident and with a proactive, flexible approach (up to 2 hrs overtime might be required, depending on the business needs).
  • A full counter balance fork lift truck licence (FLT Licence would be desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (frequent interactions with the customer will be required).
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements as well as sound PC skills.
  • An ability to manage change / Continuous improvement.
