Main duties of the job

The Cellular Pathology Department of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our team for the role of Laboratory section lead within the surgical histology laboratory.

We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who will lead in the organisation, supervision and performance of a range of scientific procedures involving the processing of biomedical specimens to contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and investigation of pathological processes within the operational Cellular Pathology Service.

The role is to support the Health board using the skills and training attained in the course of State Registration and the requirements of the HCPC (Health Professional Council) and additional post registration training. To be an active senior member of the Department Management Team. Working collaboratively with the senior management team to deliver all aspects of the operational surgical histology service. The post-holder will take responsibility for operational delivery within the operational Laboratory, will first line manage a team of supporting staff and will participate in training and development work in conjunction with senior staff.
