We are seeking a Section Engineer to join our Infrastructure - Roads team on-site in Kent/Essex.
The Lower Thames Crossing is a major infrastructure project aimed at providing an alternative crossing for the River Thames. It addresses the current overcapacity issues at the Dartford Crossing, especially during peak times. The project includes three main contracts: North Roads, Tunnels, and Kent Roads, and aims to boost economic growth by easing congestion on the Thames crossing and wider highways network.
Key features of the project include:
- Upgraded sections of the A2/M2 west of the new LTC junction
- 3.5 km of highway east of the LTC junction, including Junction 1 of the M2
- Complex utility diversions including HV/LV, Gas, Water & Communications
- Multiple bridge and retaining wall structures
- Bridge demolition and reconstruction
- Construction of new side and access roads
- Major earthworks and site compound development
Responsibilities:
- Design & Planning: Develop design, construction methodology, programme, and cost plans. Ensure timely procurement of resources and completion of pre-start documentation.
- Programme Management: Weekly assessment of actual programmes and productivity; report and address deviations.
- Team Leadership: Manage, supervise, train, and mentor the site team.
- Programme Development: Develop detailed site-specific programmes and monitor productivity.
- Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor contracts and accounts in coordination with QS team.
- Resource Management: Requisition resources to meet project specifications and schedule.
- Communication & Documentation: Maintain records, communicate non-conformances, and document work activities.
- Daily Records Maintenance: Keep accurate daily site diaries including variations and discussions.
- Quality Control & Safety: Implement inspection/test plans, risk assessments, and method statements. Uphold health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Liaison Duties: Coordinate with internal teams including Design, Engineering, QA, and Commercial.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or related field, with vocational training.
- Extensive knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
- Experience with construction contracts.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, with effective collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and document control systems.
- Relevant CSCS Card and safety/environmental training.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
