Job summary

Mane Contract Services is partnering with a well-established civil engineering contractor to appoint an experienced Section Engineer for a highways project in Colchester, Essex.

The role focuses on providing technical and engineering support across your section, ensuring works align with programme, specifications and standards. You will coordinate activities, review drawings, and maintain quality records while liaising with the wider project team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Section Engineer on civil projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction and site delivery.
• Experience on highways, roads or infrastructure schemes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience working with subcontractors and site teams.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Proactive, independent worker with team orientation.
• Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
• A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating engineering activities across your section of works.
• Setting out and providing technical guidance to site teams.
• Working with the Site Agent and Project Manager to ensure delivery of works.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Ensuring works comply with designs and standards.
• Carrying out quality inspections and maintaining records.
• Monitoring progress and supporting the project programme.
• Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and the project team.
• Assisting with inspection and test plans and quality documentation.
• Identifying technical issues and developing effective solutions.
• Supporting health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
