Job summary

EKFB is recruiting a freelance Section Engineer for our Buckingham site on the HS2 project. You will report to the Sub Agent, supervise the site engineering team, and coordinate with the Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to meet standards, programme and budget.

You will manage setting-out teams, develop Site Engineers, resolve technical issues on site and coordinate with Sub-Agent to ensure contractual requirements and progress reporting are met.

Qualifications

• Experience in Site Engineering activities with construction supervision.
• Knowledge of utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage is essential.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• CSCS card (White/White-Yellow/Red-Experienced/Black-Gold) held.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the site engineering team from construction to close out.
• Report to the Sub Agent and liaise with Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials.
• Assist with temporary works design schemes and ensure work is to programme and budget.
• Monitor subcontractors to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Produce programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans, and assist with forecasting.

About The Role

EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood.

We’re looking to recruit a Section Engineer on a freelance basis, to join our team based in Buckingham.

You will be required to report to the Sub Agent and supervise the site engineering team from construction to close out. Assisting with temporary works design schemes, you will liaise with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to carry out works activities to the required standards, programme and budget.

You’ll be responsible for managing the site setting-out team and be responsible for the performance and development of the Site Engineers and also for identifying and resolving technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub-Agent. Monitoring and coordinating subcontractors in the performance of their works, ensuring they are completed to the contractual requirements.

Ensuring that the team have all current information and resources required to carry out their duties, you will be required to assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans and contribute to financial forecasting.

About You

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent and working towards institute membership(ICE)
• Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of Site Engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills
• Experience in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage is essential for this role
• You must hold a full driving license and have access to a vehicle
• You must hold a CSCS card (White, White-Yellow, Red - Experienced, Black - Manager or Gold - Supervisor)
• You must hold a SSSTS/SMSTS
