Job summary

The Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture is seeking a Section Engineer for our Earthworks & Structures Delivery Unit in Euston. The role supports top-down construction activities, coordinating site engineers and delivering quality control for complex works including piling, sheet piling, propping, earthworks and pre-cast concrete.

You will develop 4-week programmes, prepare inspections and risk assessments, and liaise with site teams, client, and designers to ensure safe progress and

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering allied subject or HNC in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering.
• Understanding of Engineering Principles.
• Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
• Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system).
• Relevant CSCS Card.
• Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management.
• Presentation Skills Training (as they deliver inductions / briefings etc).

Responsibilities

• Managing and co-ordinating the activities of the site engineers to ensure setting-out and quality control procedures are performed timely.
• Develop 4-weekly programmes with site engineer and simple benchmark productivity measures and review weekly progress.
• Complete inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements for control of the works.
• Communicate with works managers, foremen, gangers, workforce and sub-contractors to ensure understanding.
• Inform QA and QS teams of non-conformances and instructions; keep comprehensive records of resources.
• Procurement of Plant, Materials and Equipment through Requisitions.
• Maintain a full daily site diary including variations, subcontractor attendance and discussions.
• Adherence to project policies and procedures.
