Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure in South Wales is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead civil projects within the Welsh Water AMP portfolio, delivering safe, high-quality outcomes and mentoring junior engineers. The role requires robust engineering knowledge, strong leadership, and effective stakeholder management.

You will plan activities, manage engineering processes, supervise site teams, and help maintain programme and quality standards while building client relationships across the framework.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in construction, utilities or infrastructure.
  • Experience delivering civil projects from planning through to completion.
  • Strong ability to manage activities while meeting quality, safety and programme objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering leadership and technical support across project delivery.
  • Plan and coordinate engineering activities to meet outcomes.
  • Ensure works comply with specifications, drawings and quality standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and site staff.
  • Support Site Agent in planning and delivery of construction activities.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our established Welsh Water delivery team, supporting the successful delivery of projects across the AMP8 portfolio.

This role will form a key part of our long-standing relationship with Welsh Water, providing technical leadership and engineering expertise across a diverse programme of clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working within an established framework team, you will contribute to the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of projects while supporting the development of junior engineers and site teams.

Reporting to the Site Agent, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to develop their career within a collaborative and growing water business.

About The Role

As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering engineering excellence across multiple framework projects, ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme, quality and technical requirements.

You will play a key role in planning project activities, managing engineering processes and supporting site operations, while also mentoring and developing less experienced members of the team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing engineering leadership and technical support throughout project delivery.
  • Planning and coordinating engineering activities to support successful project outcomes.
  • Ensuring works are undertaken in compliance with specifications, drawings and quality standards.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior engineers and site-based technical staff.
  • Supporting the Site Agent in the planning and delivery of construction activities.
  • Monitoring site operations and providing engineering solutions to technical challenges.
  • Assisting with programme management and progress monitoring.
  • Managing engineering records, documentation and quality assurance requirements.
  • Supporting the implementation of health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering and delivery processes.
  • Assisting with site supervision and construction management activities where required.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships within the framework environment.
Essential Experience
What We're Looking For
  • Demonstrable experience within a construction, utilities or infrastructure environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and construction techniques.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of civil engineering projects from planning through to completion.
  • Ability to manage engineering activities while maintaining quality, safety and programme objectives.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior engineers and technical teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working within the clean water and/or wastewater industry.
  • Previous involvement in water infrastructure projects delivered under framework arrangements.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques associated with water and wastewater treatment, pipelines, storage facilities or related infrastructure.
Qualifications
  • HND, Degree Apprenticeship or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Relevant professional membership or working towards professional accreditation would be advantageous.

About The Water Aviation And Highways Business Unit

Currently, we participate in the Welsh Water AMP7 and AMP8 frameworks and have secured projects with Wessex Water for the next five years. Our Highways team delivers comprehensive services, from major national projects to local schemes, improving road journeys for millions daily.
