Job summary

Fawkes and Reece are seeking a motivated Section Engineer to join the CP7 Rail Framework in Bristol/Swindon. The role offers progression as responsibilities grow, with a focus on safe delivery, drawing interpretation and technical leadership.

The successful candidate will supervise teams, ensure programme adherence, and support project execution with adherence to SHEQ standards within a collaborative engineering environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supervise junior engineers, gangers, operatives, and subcontractors with site foreman.
• Deliver projects to budget and programme with zero accidents.
• Interpret drawings and specs to provide engineering support to the project team.
• Produce risk assessments and method statements for safe execution of works.
• Ensure safe work practices and environmental compliance.
• Lead daily site briefings and maintain records (diaries, inductions, site records).
• Coordinate permits to work and monitor safety inspections.

Section Engineer

My client is looking for a motivated and ambitious Section Engineer to join their team on the CP7 Rail Framework, supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.

Role Responsibilities

• Supervise junior engineers, gangers, operatives, and subcontractors in conjunction with the site foreman.
• Ensure delivery of projects with zero accidents and to budget and programme.
• Understand and interpret the drawings and specifications to provide engineering expertise and support to the project team.
• Produce risk assessments and method statements for safe execution of the works.
• Ensure work is executed in a safe manner meeting legal guidelines set out in health safety and requirements and environmental compliance.
• Set a high personal example of safety and environmental behaviour.
• Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with company policies and procedures are promptly remedied.
• Planning and programming production resources relevant to this work area while ensuring safe systems of work are adhered to.
• Implementation of SHEQ procedures.
• Undertake the daily briefing to site operatives.
• Co-ordinating the issue and authorisation of permits to work.
• Maintaining records (e.g. diaries, inductions, and site records).
• Undertake regular site safety supervisors' inspections.
