Job description

BTMK Solicitors Ltd are looking to recruit a secretary/paralegal into our Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury department. The successful candidate will be working to support Fee Earners in a quasi-paralegal/secretarial role and will be a team player and enthusiastic to learn. The role is based in our Leigh-on-Sea office, but BTMK support flexible working. The role is open to those seeking to work on either a part-time or full-time basis. Experience in a legal setting is essential, and it is preferred that candidates understand personal injury and/or clinical negligence work, but full training will be provided.

Salary will be discussed during the interview process.

Please find below a description of some general duties associated with the role. This should not be viewed as an exhaustive list.

The paralegal/secretary will be expected to perform the following duties:

  • Assist Directors, solicitors, fee earners, trainee solicitors and paralegals with the conduct of cases generally.
  • Proficient use of case management systems, organising case files, managing appointments, diarising critical dates, dealing with file openings and processing standard terms and conditions documents and fee agreements.
  • Assisting with the preparation of invoices.
  • Compiling bundles, filing documents at court, drafting simple correspondence and documents.
  • Provide general secretarial and administrative support.
  • Manage, organise, and update relevant data using database applications.
  • Take client telephone calls and meet and greet clients.
