Job Description:

Secondary teaching assistants, south Bristol, September start Axcis Education is working with a prominent secondary school in south Bristol that are looking to take on several teaching assistants for the new academic year. These are all full time and working 8:30-3:30 Monday to Friday on long term contracts with the possibility of permanent should placements work very well. These are wonderful opportunities to make a big impact on students that need someone to believe in what they can achieve. What are we looking for? - Experience and a good understanding of special needs. Students at this school whom need additional support often come with ADHD, ASC and SEMH or attachment disorders. Since much of the work will be supporting these students on a 1:1. The right candidates will be able to demonstrate a good understanding and ideas around how to best work with needs like these. - Experience in special needs does not need to come from a school setting, although this would be desirable. We are happy to consider those that have worked with special needs via some other platform, such as residential, youth work, volunteering. It's all relevant. - Relationships are at the forefront of the work, so we are looking for people that have empathy and understanding for struggles that students can go through. But also have the resilience and endurance to see yourself through the challenges and barriers that students may put up. - Great communication skills and the ability to work in a team. Although much of the work is 1:1, a good TA is one that works well with other members of staff. Providing feedback to teachers on where students have strived or struggled, along with following and working to instructions provided by the teacher or member of senior leadership. In addition to the work we can provide a wide range of online courses all accredited that will help develop and empower you to try new things and tackle challenges with confidence.
