Job description

Secondary Teaching Assistant

Are you looking to support students on a 1:1 basis who struggle with their learning? Do you have a passion for helping children achieve?

Zen Educate is looking for a teaching assistant to work with two students in year 7 who have low learning ability and need extra support. There are some speech and language barriers, and one student has low self-esteem. We are looking for someone who has experience in supporting children with special needs, who can approach students with understanding and empathy, but also challenge them where possible.

The secondary school, located in south Bristol, is one of the smaller schools in the area and teaches students up to GCSE, so there is no sixth form. The school fosters a family feel and an overall positive work culture. Students are described as being well-behaved.

Hours are 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, and term time only.

Requirements
  1. Experience working with children, ideally in a school environment.
  2. Experience supporting special needs, specifically speech and language and mental health, is desirable.
  3. Strong communication skills with the SENCO, teachers, and parents.
  4. Reliable and able to commit to the work, as students can find change stressful; it is important to find someone dependable with minimal absences.
  5. Flexible to the needs of the school and able to work towards students' education health care plans, ensuring they are progressing towards their learning objectives.

Zen can offer competitive pay, free training, and a bespoke platform that makes working with an agency straightforward.
