Secondary Teaching Assistant - Brislington, Bristol

Are you looking to gain valuable classroom experience before undertaking teacher training? Are you a graduate considering teaching as a career but unsure if a PGCE is the right step?

If so, this Secondary Teaching Assistant opportunity in a 'good' OFSTED rated secondary school in Bristol could be the perfect way to gain classroom experience, develop your confidence, and see if teaching is the right path for you!

Details:

  1. Start ASAP, ongoing to August 2025
  2. £120 - £140 per day, depending on experience
  3. Monday - Friday 8.30am to 3.45pm
  4. Term time only
  5. Mainstream secondary school
  6. Bristol - BS4
  7. A teaching qualification is not required for this role!

About the role:

  1. Supervise classes/groups of pupils during break periods
  2. Ensure pupils remain on task with cover work set by absent teacher, to ensure continuity of learning.
  3. Manage a classroom, ensuring high standards of behaviour in line with the school's policy
  4. Support school events
  5. Opportunities for training and development internally and externally

A Secondary Teaching Assistant will:

  1. Have extensive prior experience within an education establishment as a learning support assistant, teaching assistant, unqualified teacher etc.
  2. Possess good behaviour management skills and remain calm under pressure.
  3. Be confident with ICT skills, particularly Microsoft packages.
