Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming secondary school in Burntwood, Staffordshire, starting September 2025. This is a full-time, ongoing position, offering the opportunity to make a real difference in the classroom and support students in reaching their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students across KS3 and KS4, including 1:1 and small group work

  • Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging lessons

  • Support students with a range of needs, including SEND

  • Help manage classroom behaviour in line with the school s policies

  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting is essential

  • A strong understanding of the UK national curriculum

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

  • A patient, reliable, and flexible approach to working in a school environment

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

To be considered for the role of Experienced cover supervisor you will:

  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assisant
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
  • A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • A passion for education and a flexible, proactive attitude.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
