Secondary Teaching Assistant - Shirehampton, Bristol

Do you want to help students overcome barriers to learning and realise their full potential?

We are currently recruiting for proactive, empathetic and passionate Teaching Assistants to work in a mainstream secondary school in Shirehampton - Bristol (BS11).

Start: ASAP, ongoing to August 2025
Salary: £90 - £125 per day, depending on experience
Hours: Monday - Friday 8.30am to 4pm, Term time only

About the Secondary Teaching Assistant role
  1. Provide extra support to students with special educational needs and those for whom English is an additional language.
  2. Work under the direction of teaching staff to deliver and adapt learning activities for pupils one to one or in small groups.
  3. Supervise pupils during break periods.
  4. Build positive relationships with students to promote their academic success and emotional well-being.
  5. Encourage students to develop self-confidence, resilience, and independence.

The right candidate
  1. Maths and English GCSE (Grade A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent.
  2. Extensive prior experience within an education establishment as a learning support assistant, teaching assistant, unqualified teacher, etc.
  3. Possess good behaviour management skills and remain calm under pressure.
  4. Be confident with ICT skills, particularly Microsoft packages.
