Job description

We are currently looking for a Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant to start in September in a secondary school in the Whitehaven area. The position is to work within a progressive and inclusive SEND department. The staff are supportive and work well as a team. The role is to support young people with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, Dyslexia, and SEMH. You will be supporting them in the classroom and 1:1 sessions in the SEND department. The pupils will be working at KS3 and KS4 also foundation stage.

The ideal person for the role:
  • Will have experience of supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Will be a great communicator and team player to join a committed SEND team.
  • Will have previous experience of supporting young people or adults with additional needs.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and the well-being of young people.

The Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant position will work school hours 8:30 – 3:30, we will consider people part-time as well as full-time.

Sense Education will offer training and support in the position. Everyone who works for us is required to complete Safeguarding Training. Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do, and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education, you will be paid on a weekly basis.
