Academics are currently supporting a warm, welcoming special secondary school in Erdington in their search for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of special educational needs. You will help create an inclusive, supportive, and structured environment, ensuring pupils are able to engage positively in both learning and personal development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to students with diverse SEN needs.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing among pupils.
  • Help manage behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
Requirements
  • A relevant SEN or childcare qualification or proven experience supporting children/young people with SEN.
  • A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain a new DBS prior to starting.
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people in specialist settings.
